"Sarah has been an absolute game-changer for my running journey. Her continued support and tailored approach to my novice running experience has made all the difference. She crafted a program that perfectly suited my needs and lifestyle, ensuring I stayed motivated and on track during a training block. Regular check-ins kept me accountable, and her race day preparation and guidance were superb. Sarah's expertise and encouragement have transformed my running abilities. I can't recommend her any more highly!"
- Brody H, NTHSIDE runner.
"Making the switch from self coached to Simon at NTHSIDE was the best decision I have made for my running. He has been understanding, relatable, and most importantly super knowledgeable about all things training, racing, recovery and rehab. My running has improved tenfold and I keep looking for more and more goals to reach for with his help. I am lucky to call him coach and would encourage anyone else thinking about engaging with a coach to consider getting in contact about his skills."
- Jeremy H, NTHSIDE runner.
Rose is the latest addition to the NTHSIDE coaching crew, bringing literal and figurative new meaning to the idea of NTHSIDE. Hailing far further north of NTHSIDE's birthplace in the inner north of Melbourne, Rose is a Newcastle, NSW local. And as an Olympian, National Champion, and Australia's fastest ever woman over the 5km distance, she knows a thing or two about chasing peak performance.
Rose's biggest asset as a coach is her understanding of what balance looks like in the pursuit of peak performance. As a talented junior, Rose's relationship with running changed for a period after she finished high school, and the stress and nerves of performing became overwhelming. She stepped away, and eventually returned with a more balanced approach to performance, that saw her step from obscurity to an Olympic birth in less than 2 years. She shares real-life experience in helping her athletes manage nerves and the pursuit of peak performance, whatever their level and whatever their goal.
You may have heard Rose as the bubbly and relatable co-host of the popular Australian running podcast, Spiked Up. If you have, you'll get an idea of the type of positivity she brings to connecting with fellow runners.
With experience coaching runners of all abilities from the middle distances on the track, to the local park run, all the way up to the marathon, join Rose on your journey to your own NTHSIDE.
Sam extends the Olympic pedigree within the NTHSIDE coaching ranks, as one of Australia's best ever 5000m runners from the last decade. A national champion and Rio Olympian, McEntee's own running career has taken him around the world, affording him immeasurable experience that he now shares through his coaching.
From a successful college career at Villanova University in the USA, followed by a professional career running for Nike and the Melbourne Track Club, Sam was fortunate to learn and develop as an athlete under many of the world's best coaches across different stages of his career. He learnt different styles of training, and different ways of coaching, that now, he shares with his own athletes
Chief among those lessons Sam learnt, is that every athlete is different, and that there is more than one style of training and coaching. Sam values taking the time to get to know his athletes - their goals, their unique life circumstances, and what's important to them. He knows this is key to helping an athlete feel connected to their goals, so that they can balance hard work and patience, and find the right path for them.
Sam particularly loves being on the ride with his athletes. Celebrating the highs together, and providing guidance and wisdom when it gets tough. Wisdom that Sam developed from the bottom right to the top. He now shares that with runners trying to get to their own top - towards their own potential.
Holly joins the NTHSIDE coaching team with experience and expertise that goes far beyond that of your typical run coach.
Holly holds degrees in both exercise and sports science, as well as a doctor of physiotherapy. Combined with her extensive background in strength and conditioning, Holly is a uniquely and highly qualified run coach with a lot to offer.
Having worked in one of Melbourne's most highly regarded sports medicine clinics the past two-and-a-half years, Holly has worked with just about every type of runner and injury. Her experience uniquely qualifies her to not only prepare runners to be healthy and injury resilient, but to perform at their best by taking a holistic approach to programming that considers running, recovery, and strength work.
As an avid runner herself, Holly loves being on the journey with her athletes. Most rewarding for her is seeing her athletes overcome injuries, reach personal bests, and becoming more confident in their body and their ability.
With a particular interest in women's health, Holly is also perfectly placed to provide coaching and guidance tailored to the female athlete.
Sarah joins the NTHSIDE coaching team as not only an accomplished runner herself (she recently won the Australian title for the 24hr run, covering 183km) but with an impressive and highly-relevant professional CV that strengthens her coaching offering.
Sarah knows how to get the most out of runners who wear multiple hats. She herself is a mother of three, is a registered nurse and midwife, has a qualification in human nutrition, and works in the running shoe industry. She not only brings the real world experience of juggling running, parenthood, and work, but her skillset ideally places her to guide runners more holistically towards their goals.
Sarah's own love of running centres around the freedom and calm running brings her. These values shine through in the way she connects with her athletes. Not surprisingly as a nurse, she is compassionate and fosters strong connections with all her athletes.
With experience coaching runners of all abilities from the 5km, to the marathon and beyond, join Sarah on the journey to your own NTHSIDE.
Simon joins the NTHSIDE coaching team, having already helped countless runners over the past two decades in his role as a physiotherapist - from weekend warriors to Olympians. With an impressive running resume of his own - including a 2:42 marathon - Simon has both the professional expertise and personal experience to help you to your North Star.
As a highly successful business owner himself, and an incredibly present husband and father of three, Simon brings wisdom around balance and peak performance to the table that no coaching manual or physio degree can teach. Simon knows how to make runners feel better and move faster. And he's here to help runners achieve peak running performance, without compromising peak life performance.
With NTHSIDE's focus on community, Simon is a natural fit. His own love of the run relates to its capacity to connect. Simon still gets out every Sunday for a long run with his club mates, and still competes with them occasionally too. For Simon, connection and performance are inseparable, and few have such a natural capacity to connect and empathise as Simon does - everything you'd want from a coach.
With experience working with runners covering all distances from the track to the road, join Simon on your own NTHSIDE journey.
